Cook Gluten Free!

I've been gluten-free (and dairy-free) since March 2009. I'm feeling healthier then I have in over a year, but it's taken some time to get used to the idea of not eating gluten. Especially since I love to bake and cook.

When I first found out about my food allergies, I was pretty discouraged. I wasn't aware of gluten-free alternatives that are available to people. I am now. Eating gluten-free has opened up a whole new variety of tastes and flavors. There are many gluten-free flours that you can use: white and brown rice flours, tapioca, quinoa, sorghum, millet, and more!

I want to provide you with gluten-free recipes, recipes that I've tested. Eating gluten-free is hard at first, but it's starting to get easier. Why? You'll find out when you try these recipes.

I can eat chocolate chip cookies again...and lemon pound cake!

I found your blog through a comment you posted at The Nourishing Gourmet. I'm curious about the symptoms you were having before, and how you learned about your food allergies.

I'm fairly familiar with food allergies, but was always able to eat anything I wanted without any issues. Since a surgery I had a couple years ago, though, I've had digestive problems, and I can't seem to maintain my weight. I have wondered if I've developed issues with milk. But I'm afraid to find out! 'Though it would be a pain, I could manage a gluten allergy without too much trouble, I think. But dairy - yikes! I don't know what I would do without cheese and yogurt! That would cut my recipe repertoire by like 95%, I think. Ouch. I would definitely love to not feel crummy all the time, though, and I need to gain that 5-10 lbs. back.
